Virtue’s Gregory Hall made his first visit to Ledbury, Herefordshire as a brewer, to buy English hops in the autumn of 2007. He returned in 2011 with Ryan Burk, newly minted cidermakers, to meet with Tom Oliver. In 2015, Ryan moved to Angry Orchard and so the most recent Gold Rush #4 is a collaboration that truly reflects the emergence of cider in the USA.
The Ledbury Cider is an English-style medium cider crafted by Virtue with Tom Oliver. It’s not too dry, not too sweet. A blend of old world bittersweet apples and new world heirloom varieties are fermented with native yeast, adding a bit of farminess to the ripe apple nose.
Gold Rush, is made in Ocle Pychard, Herefordshire and is a full bittersweet cider fermented by wild yeasts and then with a modest addition of fruit sugar to enable a second ferment with “lambic” yeasts. The resulting cider is medium dry and available as still BiB or sparkling in bottle. #1 has all gone. #2 is all gone #3 is available in the UK in 330ml bottles and #4 is available in the USA and UK in 500ml bottles (and in 20 litre BiB in the UK).
In the UK, we offer a next day dispatch of cider and perry by courier for small volumes and delivery by pallet of more substantial volumes.
